Job Description
Job Purpose:
- Accountable for the quality assurance and quality control function as a member of the Thailand site leadership team.
- Lead the quality assurance support function by planning, managing, acting, and monitoring various projects and processes which, for example:
a) facilitate the operations function to repeatedly produce aerospace product which meet the highest safety and quality standards
b) support other departments such as engineering, program management, quality systems and supply chain to deliver new programs, manage internal and customer driven change, respond to supplier queries / non-conformance / change.
c) up-hold and ensure business compliance with quality assurance and control processes and procedures and ensure their on-going regulatory and customer compliance.
- Accountable for ensuring sufficient department headcount; compliance with various industry and customer standards; provision of service(s) to the operations organization including availability of key inspection equipment, inspectors, and calibrated tooling; delivery to targets and budget commitments; and strategy execution.
- Championing stakeholder engagement with, and execution of, quality best practices throughout the organization.
- Taking a detail-oriented approach to manage non-conformance Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), internal and customer driven change, continuous improvement projects and new business feasibility and planning activities.
- Introduce pockets of best practice in areas including producibility, PPAP and career mapping for personal development to improve employee engagement.
- Set strategic, continuous improvement and technical goals which align to the wider business mission and customer objectives, for example the road to Zero Defects.
- Ensure teams are suitability resourced with required skills, processes, and governance to drive success.
- Concerning quality control and APQP/PPAP, ensure that methods, standards, quality control sheets (QCS) and routings are continually upheld and reflect the latest approved manufacturing process flow and capture the budgeted standard.
- Champion and deliver PPAP, within APQP framework, on new programs and where mutually agreed with customers on existing programs.
- Drive adherence to policies, standards and procedures and identify opportunities for incremental improvement or to correct audit findings.
- Drive best practice in root cause investigation in response to internal or external quality issues, coordinate containment activity and manage customer communication.
- Subject matter expert during periodic Nadcap Composite, NDT & Chemical Process audits, AS9100 audits and any customer or other regulatory audit, and support closure of any finding(s).
- Customers are placing higher standards on overall supplier readiness, risk, technical capability, and overall organization maturity, not only cost and delivered quality, so this role must take action where relevant on various customer led initiatives, surveys, assessments, questionnaires and audits and drive actions internally to improve customer perception and evaluated score.
- Manage and coordinate projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
- Oversight of the annual customer PTP lab testing campaign, ensuring continued compliance through management of the testing schedule, and that the highest standards are met.
- Manage the departmental budget / contributors to other allocations e.g., travel and training, scrap, software licenses, annual NDT equipment preventative maintenance & calibration etc. by ensuring actions are in place to achieve and countermeasures when missed.
- Manage and present weekly & monthly KPIs requested from General Manger and Corporate reporting,
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, approving calibration reports, enforcing policies, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
- Consult or negotiate with customers and vendors to prepare project specifications and statements of work.
- Support business development activities by estimating new business non-recuring engineering support, quality assurance plans, NDT requirements etc..
- Set and manage the governance of all listed responsibilities, ensuring all stakeholders are held to commitments, and manage performance accordingly.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a multinational manufacturing environment, with progressive responsibility in Quality.
- Prior experience in composite manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Experience in Quality Management within the aerospace manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
- Knowledge and practical experience with AS9100 and Nadcap requirements is a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience in APQP and PPAP implementation and leadership.
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and complex quality issues effectively.
- Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with a positive and proactive mindset.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
- Able to work at AMATA City Rayong.
