Job Description

Role Summary

The Head of Venture Capital will lead Betagro Ventures venture capital activities, covering investment opportunities from sourcing and evaluation through investment execution and portfolio management.

This role is responsible for identifying and evaluating high-potential startups, conducting investment analysis and due diligence, supporting investment decisions, and managing relationships with portfolio companies and relevant stakeholders.

The role requires strong investment judgement, analytical capability, and a solid understanding of the venture capital and startup ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

1. Investment Strategy & Opportunity Assessment

  • Develop and maintain investment perspectives aligned with Betagro Ventures investment focus and objectives.
  • Identify and assess potential investment opportunities across relevant sectors and markets.
  • Conduct market, industry, business model, and competitive analysis to evaluate investment attractiveness.
  • Assess startups based on business potential, market opportunity, management team, technology, financial performance, and other relevant factors.
  • Prepare investment analysis and recommendations for internal review and decision-making.

2. Investment Origination & Execution

  • Source and build relationships with promising startups, founders, investors, accelerators, and other relevant ecosystem players.
  • Manage the investment process from initial screening through due diligence and transaction execution.
  • Conduct financial, commercial, market, and business due diligence in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop investment materials, valuation analysis, and investment recommendations.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders throughout the investment process to ensure effective and timely execution.
  • Support negotiation and structuring of investment transactions as appropriate.

3. Portfolio Management

  • Maintain ongoing relationships with portfolio companies and founders.
  • Monitor portfolio company performance, business development, and key developments.
  • Track investment performance and relevant portfolio updates.
  • Identify key issues, opportunities, and areas requiring attention across the portfolio.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to support portfolio companies where appropriate.

4. Venture Capital Ecosystem & Relationships

  • Build and maintain relationships across the venture capital and startup ecosystem.
  • Engage with venture funds, investors, founders, accelerators, incubators, and other ecosystem partners.
  • Represent Betagro Ventures in relevant meetings, events, and industry activities.
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies, business models, investment trends, and developments relevant to Betagro Ventures.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 10+ years of professional experience, with significant experience in venture capital, corporate venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, or a related investment role.
  • Proven experience in evaluating investment opportunities and conducting financial and commercial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of startups, business models, markets, and investment fundamentals.
  • Experience managing investment processes, including due diligence and transaction execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate investment views clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with founders, investors, and external partners.
  • Fluent in English and Thai.

Preferred

  • Experience investing in or working closely with startups, particularly in FoodTech, AgriTech, or related sectors.
  • Experience in venture capital or corporate venture capital.
  • Experience working across Southeast Asian or global startup ecosystems.
  • Established network among founders, investors, venture funds, accelerators, or other ecosystem players.
