Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Karen ⇄ English Medical Interpreter. The Medical Interpreter will provide accurate, confidential, and impartial interpretation during medical appointments, consultations, and related healthcare interactions via phone or video. Daily tasks include facilitating clear communication between patients and healthcare professionals, accurately conveying medical information, and maintaining cultural sensitivity and professional boundaries. The role also involves following established protocols, documenting sessions as required, and adhering to privacy and confidentiality standards. The interpreter will collaborate with coordination staff, participate in ongoing training, and use the company's proprietary systems and tools to manage assignments and schedules.

Qualifications

• Strong Medical Interpretation skills, including experience or demonstrated ability to interpret in healthcare settings.
• Proficiency in Interpreting and Simultaneous Interpretation, with the ability to manage fast-paced conversations while maintaining accuracy.
• Solid understanding of Medical Terminology in both Karen and English, with the ability to clarify and explain terms when needed.
• Translation skills for supporting written communication between Karen and English when required.
• Fluency in Karen and English, with clear, professional communication and active listening skills.
• High level of professionalism, ethical conduct, and commitment to confidentiality and patient privacy.
• Comfort working remotely with reliable internet, basic technical skills, and the ability to navigate cloud-based platforms.
• Previous medical interpreting experience or related training is preferred but not required; willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, to support a 24/7 operation.
• Willingness to complete a 2 week training (10 business days) for candidates with no prior experience in remote medical interpretation.
