Role Description This is a full-time, remote role for a Karenni Interpreter. The Karenni Remote Interpreter will provide accurate, culturally sensitive interpretation between Karenni and English in real time, primarily via phone and video. Day-to-day responsibilities include facilitating communication between limited-English speakers and English-speaking professionals, following client and industry protocols, and ensuring confidentiality of all interpreted encounters. The role may involve assignments in healthcare, legal, educational, and government settings, requiring interpreters to handle a wide range of subject matter while maintaining neutrality and professionalism. Interpreters are expected to log in regularly to the platform, manage scheduled and on-demand calls, and document basic session details in accordance with GLOBO's standards.
Qualifications

Strong language skills in Karenni and English, including clear speaking ability, active listening, and excellent comprehension in both languages.
Demonstrated interpreting skills, such as consecutive interpretation, accurate message relay, and the ability to maintain tone and intent.
Professional communication and customer service skills, including neutrality, cultural sensitivity, and respect for diverse communities.
Technical readiness to work remotely, including reliable internet access, suitable audio equipment, and comfort using online platforms and basic computer tools.
Understanding of confidentiality, privacy, and ethical standards, especially in healthcare, legal, education, and public service environments.
Prior experience as a remote or on-site interpreter, or completion of interpreter training, is highly beneficial.
Ability to manage time effectively, handle calls in a fast-paced environment, and remain calm in sensitive or emotionally charged situations.
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant certifications in interpreting or translation are a plus.
