Machine Build Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on and results-oriented Machine Build Engineer to manage machinery build, rebuild and refurbishment projects supporting Filtrona's manufacturing operations.

The role will be responsible for coordinating machine build activities from planning through completion, working closely with the Thailand and Hungary Engineering Hubs, manufacturing sites, site engineering and procurement teams, and external suppliers. The role will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, to the required technical and quality standards, while continuously identifying opportunities to improve machine capability, build quality and cost effectiveness.

Role and Responsibilities

• Machine Build & Rebuild: Manage new machine builds, rebuilds, upgrades and refurbishment projects from planning through installation and completion.
• Project Execution: Develop project plans, define daily activities and milestones, establish timelines, track progress and proactively follow up on actions through completion.
• Hands-on Engineering Support: Provide practical engineering support throughout machine assembly, build, commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
• Cross-Site Coordination: Work closely with primarily the Asia manufacturing sites, site engineering, maintenance, procurement and other functions to ensure machine projects progress according to plan.
• Supplier Management: Coordinate with external suppliers and machine builders to ensure technical requirements, quality, cost and delivery expectations are met.
• Engineering Hub Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineering colleagues in Thailand and Hungary to share technical knowledge, engineering standards, lessons learned and best practices.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve machine design, build processes, reliability, maintainability and overall equipment performance.
• Cost Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost reduction, localization and alternative engineering solutions without compromising equipment performance, quality or safety.
• Engineering Standards & Safety: Ensure machinery is built and modified in accordance with applicable engineering, quality and equipment safety standards.
• Documentation: Maintain appropriate technical, project and machine documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Higher education (college/university) engineering degree - Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably involving machinery build, rebuild, installation or manufacturing equipment.
• Practical understanding of manufacturing machinery and machine assembly.
• Basic project management knowledge with the ability to manage timelines, priorities and multiple stakeholders.
• Knowledge of ERP or integrated enterprise management systems.
• Basic knowledge of Lean and problem-solving methodologies such as Ishikawa and FMEA.
• Working proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Basic/user-level knowledge of SolidWorks or similar engineering design software.
• Self-driven and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• International and domestic travel to manufacturing sites and suppliers will be required based on project needs.
• Short-term deployment to other Filtrona locations may be required for machine build, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and knowledge-transfer activities.
