Product Owner - Contract

Job Description:

Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities are aligned with business objectives, customer needs and the overall digital strategy.
Translate business requirements and customer pain points into clear user stories, acceptance criteria and actionable requirements.
Define product features, functional requirements and end-to-end customer journeys before development begins.
Work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, UX/UI designers, QA, operations and other delivery partners.
Prioritise features and enhancements based on customer impact, business value, regulatory requirements, dependencies and delivery effort.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily discussions, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
Provide timely clarification and make product decisions during development.
Partner with business teams to define acceptance criteria and end-to-end test scenarios.
Supervise test engineers and lead the UAT strategy, test planning and execution within the agreed schedule.
Review delivered functionality and provide product acceptance before release.
Coordinate risks, issues and dependencies across business and technology teams, escalating when required.
Support production implementation, post-launch validation and product-performance monitoring.
Maintain product requirements, decisions, documentation and roadmap visibility.
Champion customer-centric thinking and ensure digital experiences are simple, intuitive and aligned with expected outcomes.

Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in Business, Information Technology, Digital, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience as a Digital Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst or in a similar digital-delivery role.
• Experience managing product backlogs in an Agile or Scrum environment.
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into structured user stories, acceptance criteria and functional requirements.
• Good understanding of digital customer journeys and web and/or mobile applications.
• Functional understanding of APIs, system integrations, data flows and technical dependencies.
• Experience supporting UAT, production releases and post-production validation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive practical solutions.
• Good stakeholder-management and communication skills across business, technology and senior stakeholder groups.
• Strong prioritisation and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities.
• Detail-oriented, customer-focused and committed to delivery quality.
• Able to work independently, take ownership and drive issues through to resolution.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in banking, financial services, fintech or another regulated industry.
• Experience supervising QA or UAT test teams.
• Knowledge of UX/UI principles and customer-journey design.
• Experience using digital analytics to support product decisions.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps or similar platforms.
