Project Director

About the Role

The Project Director will take full accountability for the delivery of a major, greenfield data centre development in Bangkok, Thailand. This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role responsible for driving the end‑to‑end programme from mobilisation and detailed design through construction, commissioning and handover.

Reporting to the Regional Projects Director, you will act as the central point of control across internal teams, project management partners and contractors, ensuring safe, timely and high‑quality delivery of a complex, mission‑critical facility.

This is a delivery‑led role for an experienced leader who can operate at both strategic and detailed levels setting direction, challenging assumptions, managing risk and holding teams to account.

Key Responsibilities

Own programme delivery

• Take full responsibility for delivery outcomes across schedule, quality, risk and safety from project mobilisation through to operational handover.
• Act as the single point of accountability across Global Switch internal teams, the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and third‑party contractors.

Lead complex construction delivery

• Maintain sufficient technical and delivery detail to interrogate programmes, challenge contractor assumptions and identify risks early.
• Ensure construction, commissioning and handover activities are executed to the required standards for a live, mission‑critical environment.

Build and direct high‑performing teams

• Lead and develop on‑site Global Switch Project Managers and Construction Managers.
• Set clear expectations, delegate effectively and hold delivery teams and partners accountable for commitments.

Contractor and partner management

• Oversee and manage EPCs and main contractors, including South East or North East Asian contractors where applicable.
• Drive disciplined performance management across cost, quality, safety and programme delivery.

Risk, governance and control

• Proactively manage delivery risk across programme, technical, commercial and regulatory dimensions.
• Ensure adherence to Global Switch governance, reporting, approval and escalation frameworks.

Stakeholder leadership

• Build effective working relationships with local authorities, regulators, consultants and internal senior stakeholders.
• Lead with cultural awareness and sensitivity, enabling collaboration across diverse regional and international teams.

About You

You are a proven delivery leader with a track record of successfully delivering large, technically complex construction programmes. You combine strong on‑site leadership with the ability to operate credibly with executive stakeholders, contractors and partners.

You are comfortable taking ownership, challenging delivery plans, and making decisions in fast‑moving, high‑risk environments. You balance rigour and pragmatism, lead with clarity and accountability, and are recognised for building strong, capable teams around you.

Key Requirements

• Demonstrated leadership of major construction programmes (typically £100m+), with end‑to‑end delivery accountability.
• Experience delivering large‑scale projects in South East Asia, ideally Thailand.
• Strong delivery leadership skills with the ability to interrogate detailed programmes while managing through multi‑layered teams and partners.
• Background in contracting, EPC or main contractor environments, or extensive experience managing them client‑side.
• Experience delivering mission‑critical or technically complex infrastructure (data centres, industrial, utilities, energy or similar).
• Degree in Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification in Construction Management is desirable.
