Quality Manager / Assistant Quality Manager

Location: Rayong, Thailand

Our client is establishing and developing its manufacturing operation in Rayong and is looking for an experienced Quality professional to join the team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quality Manager or strong Assistant Quality Manager who wants to play an active role in developing the Quality function, systems and culture within a growing operation.

The successful candidate will be expected to operate between management and hands-on Quality activities. As the team is currently lean, this is not a purely managerial or administrative position. You will need to lead people and processes while also being prepared to get involved directly in Quality activities when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the overall Quality function and Quality Management System.
• Support the development and implementation of Quality systems within a new plant environment.
• Establish, maintain and continuously improve Quality processes and procedures.
• Manage Quality issues, root-cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
• Lead and develop the Quality team, including managing performance, communication and conflict.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering and other departments to identify potential Quality risks and prevent problems before they occur.
• Monitor the complete Quality cycle from incoming materials through production, inspection, testing and final product release.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Quality standards and customer requirements.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
• Develop a strong Quality culture throughout the organisation rather than relying solely on inspection and compliance.
• Provide clear reporting and recommendations to senior management.
• Act as a bridge between operational teams and management, providing practical input and identifying potential obstacles or improvements.
• Be prepared to remain hands-on and directly support Quality activities where required.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 7 years experience in Quality, with significant management or leadership responsibility.
• Strong experience managing processes, problems and people.
• Excellent understanding of QMS and the complete Quality management cycle.
• Strong understanding of Quality Management principles and the ability to embed Quality into day-to-day operations.
• Experience with new plant / new system setup would be highly advantageous.
• Experience within a Heat Exchanger manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
• Background in industrial, engineering, fabrication or related manufacturing environments would also be considered.
• ISO 9001 experience is required; IATF 16949 experience would also be welcomed.
• Strong leadership skills, particularly around managing people, difficult situations and internal conflict.
• Positive attitude with a professional approach to work.
• Comfortable challenging existing processes and contributing ideas for improvement.
• Able to identify potential problems or obstacles before they become major issues.
• Comfortable working within a Western management culture, where employees are expected to contribute ideas, raise concerns and actively participate in improvement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to balance management responsibilities with hands-on operational Quality work.

The company is open to an Assistant Quality Manager-level candidate, provided they demonstrate strong leadership capability, technical Quality knowledge and the maturity to take ownership of people, processes and problems.
