About This Role
The Sales Director is a senior leadership position responsible for driving the overall business strategy, revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion for the Construction/Building Materials division. This role oversees sales, operations, product portfolio, channel management, and P&L ownership. The Business Head will work closely with the CEO/Board to ensure strategic alignment and deliver sustainable business performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business strategy to achieve revenue, margin, and market-share goals.
- Conduct market analysis to identify growth opportunities in construction and building materials segments.
- Define long-term plans for product diversification, capacity expansion, and digital transformation.
- Own complete P&L accountability for the business.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategies, and financial performance.
- Optimize cost structures in procurement, manufacturing, and distribution.
- Lead sales teams to achieve volume and value targets across B2B, B2C, project, and dealer channels.
- Strengthen dealer/distributor network and key-account relationships (contractors, developers, architects).
- Oversee marketing initiatives, branding, product promotion, and channel programs.
- Coordinate with manufacturing plants for production planning, quality control, inventory, and dispatch.
- Improve operational efficiency, safety, and compliance across the supply chain.
- Ensure timely product availability with optimal working-capital utilization.
- Build, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations, Marketing, Finance).
- Foster a performance-driven culture with clear KPIs and accountability.
- Lead talent development and succession planning.
- Collaborate with leadership on corporate strategy, investment decisions, and expansion plans.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, partners, government bodies, and industry associations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, Supply Chain, or related fields.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree preferred.
- 10–20+ years of experience in Construction Materials, Building Materials, Cement, Steel, Paints, Tiles, Sanitaryware, Adhesives, or related industries.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior management or business leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing P&L, large sales teams, and nationwide operations.
- Strong business acumen and strategic planning abilities
