Senior Full Stack Engineer

Role Summary

EGG Digital is looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to design, build, and ship features end to end

across React/TypeScript frontends and modern backend services, with a focus on data-dense,

high-performance products. You will own features from technical design through production

release and on-call operation, driving technical quality, reliability, and sound architecture

decisions. Working within an agile team alongside product, design, data, and quality, you will

mentor less experienced developers and use AI-assisted tooling to raise throughput without

lowering the quality bar.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Feature Development: Design, build, test, and ship features across the full stack, owning them

from technical design and estimation through production release and post-release

monitoring, and breaking ambiguous requirements into well-scoped, incremental deliveries.

• Frontend Engineering: Build responsive, performant, accessible interfaces for complex data-

heavy views, working from design specifications and advising on feasibility and interaction

detail, and own component architecture, state management, and rendering performance in a

React-class framework.

• Backend Engineering: Develop and maintain services, APIs, data models, and integrations with

internal and third-party systems, designing for reliability, security, and performance under load

with clear API contracts, idempotent operations, and sensible caching and pagination.

• Technical Design: Write and review technical design documents for medium-to-large features,

evaluate trade-offs such as build versus reuse, synchronous versus asynchronous, and data

model choices, and contribute to platform-wide architecture decisions.

• Technical Quality: Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code, contribute actively to code

review, pay down technical debt deliberately, and instrument features with logging, metrics,

and tracing so they are supportable in production.

• Production Ownership: Take part in the on-call rotation, diagnose and resolve production

incidents, contribute to blameless post-mortems, and follow through on the fixes that prevent

recurrence.

• Collaboration and Mentorship: Work within an agile team alongside product, design, data, and

quality functions, mentor less experienced developers through pairing and code review, and

use AI-assisted development tools to raise throughput without lowering the quality bar.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a

related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience delivering

production web applications end to end in an agile environment, including ownership of

features from design through operation in a product or high-scale environment.

• Frontend: Strong command of React (or a comparable component-based framework) and

TypeScript, including hooks, state and server-state management (e.g. Redux, Zustand, React

Query), routing, code splitting, rendering performance, and accessibility (WCAG)

fundamentals, with experience building on a design system.

• Backend: Depth in at least one modern backend language (e.g. TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Go,

Java/Kotlin), with solid API design (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC), authentication and authorisation

(OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, role-based access), input validation, and secure coding practices.

• Data Layer: Relational data modelling and query optimisation in PostgreSQL or equivalent,

familiarity with NoSQL and caching stores such as Redis, and experience with ORMs or query

builders and versioned schema migrations.

• Data-Dense Interfaces: Experience building dashboards or analytical views with charting

libraries (e.g. D3, ECharts, Recharts), virtualised tables, and browser-side performance

optimisation for large datasets.

• Cloud and Delivery: Git workflows, automated testing at unit, integration, and end-to-end

levels (e.g. Jest, Vitest, Playwright), CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and deployment on a major cloud

platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure), with a working understanding of Kubernetes.

• Observability and Reliability: Experience instrumenting services with logging, metrics, and

tracing, debugging production issues from telemetry, and designing for graceful degradation,

timeouts, and retry and backoff behaviour.

• Problem Solving: Strong debugging and analytical skills, the ability to reason about system

behaviour across frontend, backend, and data layers, and the judgement to know when to

optimise and when to ship.

• Effective Communication: Able to work independently, write clear technical documentation

and design notes, communicate progress and blockers clearly, and collaborate across

disciplines.

• A Plus: Experience building personalization and recommendation systems, CRM and loyalty

platforms, marketing technology (customer data platforms, campaign orchestration,

marketing automation), or social media and messaging platform integrations (e.g. LINE,

Facebook, TikTok). Experience in telecommunications, location or mobility data, or large-scale

data platform environments is also valued.
