Role Purpose
Investment Back Office & Accounting – Senior Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Investment Back Office & Accounting Senior Manager to lead and oversee investment operations, investment accounting, and financial reporting activities. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely recording of investment transactions, regulatory compliance, system implementation, and maintaining a strong control environment that supports the company's investment strategy and financial reporting objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all investment back-office operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing, settlement, reconciliation, and recording of investment transactions.
- Oversee investment accounting activities in accordance with TFRS accounting policies.
- Review investment-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for month-end closing activities.
- Coordinate with Investment, Treasury, Actuarial, Risk Management, and external custodians to resolve investment-related issues and ensure accurate reporting.
- Manage investment data integrity and reconciliations between investment systems, custodian records, general ledger, and financial reporting systems.
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of investment accounting and reporting systems.
- Support financial statement preparation, management reporting, Audit Committee reporting, and regulatory submissions related to investment activities.
- Ensure compliance with OIC regulations, TFRS requirements, and internal control policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors, internal auditors, and regulators on investment accounting and reporting matters.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational excellence across investment operations and reporting functions.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members to strengthen technical competencies and build succession capabilities.
- Perform other ad hoc assignments and strategic projects as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in investment accounting, investment operations, financial reporting, or finance functions, preferably within the life insurance or financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of investment instruments, including fixed income securities, equities, mutual funds, derivatives, and alternative investments.
- Sound knowledge of TFRS, investment accounting, hedge accounting, fair value measurement, and insurance industry reporting requirements.
- Experience in investment accounting systems implementation, transformation projects, or finance system upgrades is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Proven leadership experience with strong people management and coaching capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial reporting tools, and investment accounting systems.
