Senior Project Manager, Data Center Construction
About DayOne
DayOne builds and operates hyperscale data centers across nine markets in APAC and Europe. We raised US$4.5B in Series C funding and are in active build across the region. In Chonburi, we are developing one of Southeast Asia's most significant greenfield data center campuses on a path to Thailand's first 1GW platform. This role leads that build.
About The Role
You'll lead data center construction projects end to end, from initiation through commissioning and handover — owning scope, budget, schedule, and the full contractor and vendor ecosystem on site. This is a senior delivery role for someone who has run mission-critical construction before and can operate fluently within a technically demanding, multi-contractor environment from day one.
Project Leadership
- Lead end-to-end data center construction projects from initiation through commissioning and handover.
- Develop detailed project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
- Manage internal teams, external vendors, contractors, engineers, and consultants across the full project lifecycle.
Delivery and Quality Control
- Monitor construction progress against design specifications, codes, and standards.
- Oversee quality control, health and safety, and change management processes throughout the build.
- Ensure all permitting, inspections, and regulatory requirements are met on schedule.
Commissioning and Handover
- Coordinate commissioning and integration of electrical, mechanical, and IT systems.
- Track and report on project milestones, deliverables, and risk factors.
- Manage financial tracking, budget adherence, and cost optimization across the project.
- Ensure project documentation, closeout reports, and handover to operations are completed to standard.
Requirements
Technical Skills
- 8 or more years of project management experience in data center, semiconductor, or comparable high-precision, high-availability construction environments — this is a hard requirement, not a preference.
- Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects with significant mechanical and electrical complexity.
- Experience working with Japanese contractor or EPC firms is required given the contractor ecosystem in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD or Revit, and BIM tools.
- PMP or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- English required. Thai strongly preferred for site-level coordination and local authority engagement.
Soft Skills
- Explains their own project experience with enough technical specificity to be assessed on it, not just described in general terms.
- Leads multi-contractor teams with the authority to resolve conflicts and keep schedule without escalating every issue upward.
- Manages competing project priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes construction environment without losing quality discipline.
Nice to Have
- Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center construction specifically.
- Understanding of IT, networking, and cabling requirements in data center environments.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects in parallel.
