Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer who can take ownership of software quality throughout the development lifecycle, from requirement review and quality planning to testing and release readiness.

The role will focus on defining QA approaches, identifying quality risks, ensuring sufficient test coverage, monitoring defects, and improving QA processes. The candidate must also be able to perform hands-on testing when required.

Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance (QA). Experience in **Telco / Telecommunication projects or systems is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Planning

• Define QA strategy, test approach, and quality standards for projects.
• Review business requirements, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria to identify quality risks, gaps, and unclear requirements before development and testing.
• Define appropriate test scope, test coverage, test priorities, and quality checkpoints based on project risks.
• Establish and maintain QA processes, testing standards, and quality guidelines.
• Work closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Quality Control & Risk Management

• Monitor testing progress, defect status, test coverage, and overall product quality.
• Identify quality risks and communicate potential impacts to the project team.
• Analyze defect trends, recurring issues, and root causes to prevent similar problems in future releases.
• Review test results and outstanding defects to assess release readiness.
• Provide quality status, risks, and recommendations to support Go / No-Go decisions.
• Ensure critical issues are properly addressed before production release.

Hands-on Testing

• Design and review Test Scenarios and Test Cases based on business and system requirements.
• Perform hands-on Functional Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, Regression Testing, and End-to-End Testing when required.
• Verify defects after fixes and perform regression testing to ensure changes do not impact existing functions.
• Support SIT and UAT activities, including issue analysis and coordination with related teams.
• Perform API and database validation when required.

Team & Process Improvement

• Review test cases and testing results prepared by QA / Testers to ensure sufficient coverage and quality.
• Provide guidance and support to Junior QA / Testers.
• Continuously improve QA practices, testing processes, and quality standards.
• Share lessons learned and quality issues with the team to reduce recurring defects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
• At least 3 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance (QA).
• Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and QA processes.
• Experience in defining test approaches, test coverage, and quality controls.
• Strong understanding of software quality, risk management, defect management, and release readiness.
• Strong hands-on software testing skills.
• Able to analyze requirements and identify potential risks, gaps, and test scenarios.
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira or similar tools.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and database validation.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman is preferred.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
• Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Telco / Telecommunication projects or systems is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of Telco systems or business processes such as Billing, Charging, Provisioning, Order Management, Customer Management, or related systems.
• Experience working with complex systems involving multiple integrations.
• Experience in Agile / Scrum development environments.
• Experience with Test Automation or Automation Testing is a plus.
