Test Software Development Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automated test software for new product introductions (NPI), primarily using VB.NET, C#, Python, or similar object-oriented programming languages.
• Develop and maintain test frameworks, libraries, and tools to streamline test development and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with development engineers in Ottawa and Shenzhen.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex software issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Verify and validate software through unit, integration, and system-level testing.
• Participate in design and code reviews to promote best practices and maintain quality standards.
• Research and evaluate emerging test technologies, tools, and methods to enhance test capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• At least two years of experience in test software development, preferably in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
• Strong programming skills in VB.NET, C#, Python, SQL, or similar languages.
• Experience automating test equipment and controlling instruments.
• Familiarity with communication protocols such as SCADA, PLC, GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and RS-232.
• Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
• Knowledge of AI tools is an advantage.
• Knowledge of optical or photonic components, systems, or test methods is an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
