Assistant Manager, Engineering

Assistant Manager, Engineering is responsible for the same and efficient operation and maintenance of all building systems, machinery, structures, landscape, furniture and fittings. He is responsible to comply with all governmental regulations as well as all ONYX Hospitality Group Polices that relate to his position. He is tasked championing the continuous improvement of the Fire Life & Safety standards of his property. He is directly accountable to the Manager, Engineering for the cleanliness, safety standards and energy efficiency of the property machinery, systems and machinery rooms.

Responsible for ensuring the safe. efficient, and role operation and maintenance of all hotel facities, building systems, machinery, and equipment. The role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies, promotes continuous improvement in Fife Life & Safety standards, and oversees preventive maintenance programs to maximize operational efficiency, safety, and energy performance throughout the property.

Responsibilities

• Build effective relationships with associates, peers and supervisor to develop a high performing team
• Analyze reporting and business trends to make strategic decisions to drive results
• Directly supervise the business, ensuring, and maintaining high quality standards
• Consistently assess and provide ongoing performance feedback to all levels of team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in hotel engineering operations, including at least 3 years in supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Good understanding of Fire Life & Safety standards, occupational health and safety requirements, and relevant government regulations.
• Proven leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyze technical issues and implement effective solutions in a systematic and timely manner.
• Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills.
• Knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices will be an advantage.
• Proficiency in relevant computer applications and Maintenance Management Systems.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Service-minded, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure.
