General Manager, Business Development is responsible for leading the commercial growth strategy and driving business expansion. This includes warehousing, transportation, and integrated supply chain solutions across multiple industries. This position plays a critical role in shaping market positioning, enhancing customer engagement, and driving long-term profitability through strategic account management and pipeline development.
The role focuses on identifying new market opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring sustainable revenue growth. The incumbent will lead the business development team, oversee key customer relationships, and collaborate closely with regional leadership, Solution Design, Operations, and internal departments leaders (Finance, HR, Compliance, etc.) to develop competitive, high-value solutions that align with both customer requirements and the company's strategic objectives. The role also engages externally with partners, and industry stakeholders to develop innovative solutions and competitiveness.
Key Accountabilities:
1.Identify and secure new local market opportunities.
- Analyze potential clients industries to understand market conditions, customer behavior, and competitive landscape. Seek out available resources to track local market dynamics and identify growth areas in both conventional sectors and new development sectors.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to adjust strategy accordingly. Look for opportunities to offer differentiated value creation solutions, including M&A or JV opportunities, that are priced competitively and profitably, aligning with corporate objectives.
- Drive sales strategies. Map out market entry, the country's growth strategies with country BD goals, action plans, measures of success, resources and tools required, to expand the company's market presence across logistics services and achieve revenue targets.
2.Oversee Bid Preparation and Negotiations:
- Manage and handle the RFQ response documents coming to the company for Contract Logistics Business.
- Closely coordinate with Finance, Commercial, Operations, Legal, Safety, Security and HR to prepare clear, accurate, and competitive proposals with complete documentation, including scope of work, resources planning, pricing, risk management, and deliverables compliant with the client's needs.
- Lead solution design teams to incorporate supply chain technical input in accordance with agreed engagement processes and methodologies.
- Develop and maintain Capex procedures as per policy for RFQ and new business submissions.
- Undertake sales presentations to customers and business communities to present the company and its products and services.
- Lead negotiation process of contracts with major clients, high-value national pursuits, and partnerships.
3.Build and Maintain Client Relationships:
- Represent the company and its policies to the clients which are defined as Strategic Accounts.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership and decision makers to cultivate strong relationships with clients, secure agreements, and foster collaboration and growth.
- Partner with Operations and across internal departments to ensure smooth implementation and quality of service operations to ensure we deliver committed results.
4.Manage and Develop the Country BD Team:
- Lead and mentor a BD team, push performance by providing knowledge of the market and competitors, coaching guidance on Linfox selling preposition, and leadership support to help them achieve their goals and remove bottlenecks/ barriers.
- Nurture a positive work environment that motivates and engages all team members.
5.Monitor Sales Performance Report and Adjustment:
- Track and manage sales and revenue projections, and reports sales key performance indicators to management.
Qualifications & experience:
- Bachelor's in business management, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related.
- 7+ years BD experience in logistics/transport or relevant sectors, with 3+ years in BD leadership level.
- Solid understanding of commercial models, budgeting, and solution design
- Fluent in English
- A high level of computer literacy
- Able to travel occasionally.
Preferred experience:
- Extensive experience selling and presenting business proposals to the highest-level decision-makers (C-level Executives)
- Extensive supply chain experience in a medium to large private sector organization in managing people, financials, customers, and contracts.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Supply Chain Solutions, Solutions Design, and related regulations.
- Deep understanding of client industries, market conditions, buying behavior, and competitive landscape
- Experience in utilizing CRM and Sales Analytics tools for opportunity tracking and reporting, analysing performance, and adjusting strategies for better outcomes.
