Job Description

Position Overview:

The Head of Risk is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the organization's risk management strategy, with a particular focus on Operations Risk and IT Risk. This leadership role directs teams responsible for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across operational and technology domains, ensuring the company's resilience and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive risk management frameworks and policies for operational and technology risks.
  • Oversee risk identification, assessment, and mitigation processes related to business operations and information technology.
  • Collaborate with business units, Technology, IT security, compliance, and other stakeholders to integrate risk management practices across the organization.
  • Monitor emerging risks and conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and controls reviews.
  • Ensure alignment with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Provide guidance to teams and staff on risk management principles and practices.
  • Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for operational or IT-related risk events, ensuring lessons learned are integrated into processes.
  • Represent the risk function in executive meetings and with external stakeholders as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Risk Management, Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in risk management, with strong exposure to operations and IT risk within a tech, banking, or financial services environment.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of risk management frameworks, operational risk, information security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as CRISC, CISA, CISSP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
