Job Description (Key Responsibilities)
1) Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecast, and periodic reforecast processes across functions.
- Coordinate budget submissions with business units and ensure alignment with company strategy and financial targets.
- Build and maintain drivers-based financial models covering revenue, gross margin, OPEX, CAPEX, and working capital.
- Define planning assumptions, scenarios, and sensitivities (best/base/worst case) in alignment with business owners.
- Analyze budget/forecast variances and provide clear, actionable explanations to management.
2) Performance Management & Reporting
- Deliver timely management reports (monthly/quarterly/annual) with key business insights and performance highlights.
- Conduct variance analysis (Actual vs Budget/Forecast/Prior Year), identify key drivers, and recommend corrective actions.
- Track business performance vs targets; proactively flag risks/opportunities and propose mitigation plans.
- Support management with ad-hoc financial analysis, business cases, and investment evaluations.
3) Business Partnering
- Act as a finance business partner to commercial, operations, and support functions.
- Provide financial insights to support pricing, promotions, cost control, and investment decisions.
- Challenge assumptions constructively and recommend actions to improve profitability and cash flow.
- Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture that supports continuous improvement and innovation.
4) Financial Modeling & Decision Support
- Develop and maintain model frameworks for store-level P&L, category profitability, promotion effectiveness, and margin bridge analysis.
- Perform sensitivity and scenario analyses on key cost/revenue drivers (e.g., FX, freight, shrinkage, wage inflation).
- Ensure data consistency and establish a single source of truth across Finance and business stakeholders.
5) Governance, Process Improvement & Controls
- Improve FP&A processes, templates, and planning calendar to increase speed, accuracy, and transparency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations; maintain audit-ready documentation for planning assumptions.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks related to budgets, forecasts, and strategic initiatives.
- Support finance system enhancements and automation initiatives (e.g., reporting automation, data pipelines).
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across financial reports and dashboards.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the superior.
6) Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and develop FP&A analysts (and/or finance business partners).
- Set team standards for modeling structure, reporting quality, and stakeholder management.
- Build a high-performance team culture with clear goals, coaching, and continuous capability development.
Job Requirements & Person Specification (Qualifications, Experience, & Skills)
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field (MBA or other advanced degree is preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, management consulting, or related roles, with at least 3 years in FP&A (retail experience preferred).
- Proven experience leading budgeting/forecasting cycles and producing executive-level reporting.
- Demonstrated people management experience or leadership of cross-functional workstreams.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Advanced Excel (financial modeling, Power Query/Power Pivot, structured modeling, error checks).
- Strong financial acumen: solid understanding of P&L/Balance Sheet/Cash Flow, working capital, accruals, and cost behavior.
- Data analytics & BI tools: Power BI, dashboard design, and data validation.
- Forecasting techniques: trend/seasonality, drivers-based forecasting, scenario & sensitivity analysis.
- Retail metrics knowledge: SSSG, basket size, conversion, gross margin, shrinkage, inventory turns, markdown, promotion ROI.
Behavioral & Communication
- Strong communication and presentation skills (executive-ready storytelling).
- High ownership, attention to detail, and ability to work under tight timelines.
- Strong stakeholder management across functions; able to influence and challenge assumptions constructively.
- Strong proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking); Mandarin is an advantage.
