The Role

Based in the Austrade Bangkok office, you will be a State Specialist and lead the interests of Queensland in the Thai market through the identification, promotion and facilitation of trade and investment opportunities in the Queensland Government's key industry sectors (agribusiness, food & beverage, resources, manufacturing, consumer, innovation, services and investment).

Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) is the Queensland Government's dedicated global business agency for international investment and trade.

TIQ facilitate personalised connections to drive global business opportunities for export markets and attract international investors, buyers and talent to Queensland.

This role reports to Austrade's Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner in Bangkok, under the direction of TIQ's Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner, Southeast Asia based in Ho Chi Minh City.

Duties include

• Drive trade and investment commercial outcomes for Queensland in Thailand including leading and managing trade and investment strategy, and reporting on activities and outcomes.
  
  

Specific sector coverage will be determined in consultation with TIQ's Southeast Asia Commissioner to ensure alignment with regional priorities.

• Be responsible for fostering the growth of priority Queensland sectors in Thailand by managing and assisting Queensland companies, to secure export deals within the Thai market.
• Establish and maintain effective high-level relationships at a C-Suite level within Thailand to benefit Queensland exporters and investors. This extends to Thai Government departments, private industry, key buyers and industry associations.
• Identify, pursue and progress commercial opportunities by recommending targeted business development, marketing and trade promotion initiatives.
• Lead the management and execution of Queensland trade and investment in-market promotions to raise the profile of Queensland in Thailand.
• Provide advice and regular market updates on significant developments in the economic and business environment that impacts on the Queensland Government and Queensland commercial interests.
• Work with key stakeholders in Thailand and Queensland, spanning Government, industry and research to facilitate Queensland trade and investment outcomes.
• Assist Queensland exporters and Thai investors through delivery of outbound and inbound programs and visits, leading market visit programs and market entry advice.
• Under direction from Queensland's Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner – Southeast Asia, manage Queensland trade missions, ministerial visits and company programs to Thailand. This extends to preparation of senior visit programs and accompanying ministers and business delegations within Thailand.

Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration and appointment you must have:

• Work Authorisation - to be eligible for employment with Austrade in Thailand, candidates must be legally authorised to live and work in Thailand at the time of appointment.
• Language - the successful candidate must be a highly motivated team member, fluent in written and spoken English and Thai.
• Security Clearance - the successful applicant must be willing to complete an Entry Level Screening Pack and be confirmed as a suitable person to access Government resources prior to commencement in the role.
