Lighting Design Director / Associate Design Director

mustard is partnering with a globally recognized lighting design practice known for its award-winning portfolio and commitment to top-tier design excellence.

We are seeking a visionary LightingDesign Director or a high-potential Associate Design Director ready to step into a leadership role to join a growing international lighting and architecture studio.

In this role, you will spearhead a talented team, leading design from initial concept through to technical delivery. You will provide hands-on mentorship, build lasting relationships with international clients, and lead high-impact projects across the Commercial, Hospitality, and Mixed-use sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership (Primary Focus)

• Lead the full design lifecycle—from concept development and creative direction through to technical design, construction documentation, and project resolution.
• Drive materiality, spatial planning, and design innovation across multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Review and approve drawing sets, renderings, and presentation materials to ensure both design excellence and technical accuracy.

Training & Mentorship

• Actively coach, mentor, and develop junior and mid-level designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Lead internal training sessions to elevate technical skills, design thinking, and software proficiency across the studio.
• Identify and nurture emerging talent, preparing them for increased responsibility and future leadership.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as the primary design lead in client presentations, workshops, and negotiations.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with both international and local clients.
• Translate client needs into compelling design narratives and strategic, deliverable solutions.

Requirements

• Experience: Proven track record in reputable lighting design firms, minimum 10-12 years experience
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and manage complex project workflows from concept to completion.
• International Exposure: Significant experience working on international projects, with the ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts.
