As part of our expansion strategy, we are seeking a commercially driven General Manager, Ocean Freight to lead and grow our Thailand operations. This role carries full responsibility for local business development, gross profit (GP) growth, and overall branch performance across end-to-end logistics services.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong local market network, proven leadership capability, and a successful track record in driving business growth, developing high-performing teams, and aligning local operations with regional business objectives.

Job Summary

The Finance Manager / Senior Finance Manager is responsible for leading the overall finance and accounting function, ensuring financial integrity, statutory compliance, commercial business partnering, and operational excellence across the assigned country or business portfolio.

The incumbent will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, taxation, internal controls, and freight forwarding transactional finance while supporting business growth and strategic decision-making. This role partners closely with Country Management, Commercial, Operations, and Regional Finance to optimize financial performance and maintain strong governance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Lead the full spectrum of finance and accounting operations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing.
  • Review monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Accounting Policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Manage statutory audits and financial reporting requirements.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Deliver profitability analysis by branch, customer, product, trade lane, and business segment.
  • Provide strategic financial recommendations to management.
  • Support investment evaluations and business expansion initiatives.

Freight Forwarding Finance Operations

  • Oversee financial operations supporting Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, Contract Logistics, Warehousing, and Transportation.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost accruals for freight forwarding transactions.
  • Review shipment profitability and gross profit analysis.
  • Monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP), unbilled revenue, cost provisions, and operational financial controls.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Commercial teams to improve billing accuracy and operational profitability.

Treasury & Working Capital

  • Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable ageing and collection performance.
  • Review customer credit exposure and recommend credit control actions.
  • Ensure timely supplier payments while maintaining healthy cash flow.

Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT/GST, Withholding Tax, and statutory reporting.
  • Coordinate with tax consultants and external auditors.
  • Support tax planning initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Internal Controls & Governance

  • Maintain a robust internal control environment in accordance with Group policies.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Support internal audits, external audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Drive finance process improvements, automation, and digital transformation initiatives.

Business Partnering

  • Partner with Country Management to support commercial growth and operational efficiency.
  • Provide financial insights for pricing, customer profitability, and business performance.
  • Support contract reviews and commercial decision-making.
  • Participate in management meetings and business reviews.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
  • Establish clear performance objectives and succession plans.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive employee engagement and capability development.

Regional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Southeast Asia Finance Director and Regional Finance teams.
  • Support regional finance transformation initiatives and system implementations.
  • Participate in cross-country projects, finance standardization, and process harmonization.
  • Provide financial support for mergers, acquisitions, and business integration where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • CPA, ACCA, CA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • MBA is an advantage for Senior Finance Manager positions.

Experience

Finance Manager

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Experience within freight forwarding, logistics, shipping, transportation, or supply chain industries preferred.

Senior Finance Manager

  • Minimum 12 years of finance leadership experience.
  • Proven experience managing country or multi-country finance operations.
  • Demonstrated success in business partnering with senior management.
  • Experience leading finance transformation, ERP implementation, or regional projects is highly desirable.
